UPSC IES- Indian Engineering Services Examination, 2013 – 2014 – Job Vacancies for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering Degree Holders

Every year UPSC conducts various top level recruitment examinations, as a formal body United Public Service Commission is entitled to fill up these posts in various public service organization of India. From the vast range of these public sector recruitment examinations one of the recruitment exam is UPSC IES-ESE Engineering Services Examination.

This recruitment examination is pretty much popular among the engineering graduates, the reason behind its popularity is the bulk number of hiring on top level grades in various public sector units like railway, defense etc.

Due to the above told reasons the competitiveness increases because lakhs of engineering graduates appear in the written examination. The ratio of competitiveness is 1:70 means for every seat a minimum of 70 applicants competes.  

Job Description

Organization: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

Job Title: Various top level engineering positions through Indian Engineering Services Examination
Disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Profiles

Total No. of Job Vacancies: 763 slots including the 16-47 PWD posts

Minimum Eligibility Criteria (Qualification required): As the name of examination suggests this exam is made for engineering graduates only, to apply for the IES-ESE exam you must have passed the final year of engineering. The applications are also open from MSc. Degree holder in Electronics, Wireless Communications, Radio Engineering or Radio Physics

Minimum Age Eligibility Criteria: Min 21 to Max 30 by Aug 1st 2010

Latest Examination Pattern and Syllabus of IES Exam 2013:
  1. Selection Procedure: The IES-ESE exam will be conducted in 2 stages: Written Exam-1000 Marks followed by Personality Test- 200 Marks.
  2. Written Exam: 5 Papers/200 Marks Each
Paper Wise Details:
  • Paper-1: MCQ Based objective type questions to be asked in General Ability test. The exam will carry questions from General Studies (GK, Geography and History) and English
  • Paper-2 to 5: 1 paper will be MCQ based and other paper going to be Descriptive related to relevant disciplines
Negative Marking: 1/3 marks will be deducted in MCQ papers

How to Apply: To apply for UPSC exam you’re required to visit the official website where you can register yourself online for the written examination. The fee of examination is payable by Central Recruitment Fee stamp
